ESTA Application Number Information

All travelers entering the United States under the Visa Waiver Program by air or sea must have an approved Travel Authorization. The Travel Authorization includes a unique Application Number which is linked to your passport details. Each traveler must have his or her own ESTA Application Number, including children and infants. After you apply for your Travel Authorization online, an email will be sent to the email address you provided during the application process.

The email will have an attached PDF document that is your approved ESTA application. The document will include your unique Application Number. To be on the safe side when you travel, it is recommended that you print and bring your ESTA document with you on your trip.

After successfully applying for your ESTA, you will see your unique Application Number in the email you receive. It is vital that you save the attached document to make sure you don’t lose your ESTA Application Number. You will need your ESTA Application Number for the following:

  • Check the status of your ESTA Travel Authorization
  • Verify your Travel Authorization before each trip to the United States (the ESTA is valid for two years)

Important Tips:
  • After successfully applying for ESTA, your unique Application Number will be emailed to you
  • If you don’t receive it within 72 hours, please contact the service provider.
  • Make sure to save the attached document and do not delete the email and empty your trash before it is saved
  • The ESTA Application Number consists of a combination of letters and numbers and is normally 16-characters long
  • You should apply for your Travel Authorization at least 72 hours before departure. However, if you are planning to visit the United States within the next 3-6 months, you are recommended to apply as soon as possible
  • If others are traveling with you, make sure that everyone has a printed version of their ESTA application as a safety precaution (children and infants also)
