ESTA Update
All travelers entering the United States under the Visa Waiver Program by air or
sea must have an approved ESTA Travel Authorization. This has
been a requirement since January 12, 2009. After you have applied and received
your ESTA Travel Authorization number, you may update your file before each
U.S. entry. You can update your Travel Authorization multiple times, but you
should not apply for a new Travel Authorization unless you have a new passport,
the circumstances around your Visa Waiver eligibility has changed or your
current Travel Authorization has expired. A Travel Authorization is normally
valid for two years. Each traveler may update their own Travel
Authorization before departure.

WARNING! There are several private websites
that offer to update your Travel Authorization for a fee. You are exposed to
identity theft by providing your passport information, ESTA number, itinerary,
and credit card information
to non-governmental websites. There are no guarantees that the private
website will actually update your ESTA file. For safety reasons you are not
recommended to provide any personal information to non-official websites.
HOW PROTECT YOURSELF FROM ESTA FRAUD
You are strongly recommended to update your own ESTA file. You are not
recommended to hire any
private companies to update your own ESTA Travel Authorization file. It is
important that
you know what information that is linked to your Travel Authorization to avoid any
potential problems upon entering the United States. The only way to guarantee
that your Travel Authorization contains the correct information is to update it
yourself.

Travelers with an approved ESTA Application Number may update their own
travel authorization before each trip to the United States:
- Email address
- Telephone number
- Airline you are flying with
- Flight number
- City where you are boarding
- Address while in the United States (unless if transit through the U.S.)
Below is an example of the successful confirmation page that you will see on
your computer screen once you have been approved for ESTA.

information and claim to submit the application on your behalf. Applying for
your own Travel Authorization is the only way to be 100% sure that your
application is submitted properly. Travelers with an invalid ESTA Travel
Authorization may be denied entry by U.S. Customs and Border Protection.
